Six fingers. One point of contact.

Across cultures, the sixth finger has been read as a sign of difference, fortune, even divinity. What was once feared as unnatural could also become a mark of the extraordinary: a connection to the sacred, to another realm, to something beyond the ordinary human body.

In Hindu imagery, divine figures often appear with multiple limbs. Among the Maya, six fingers could suggest a direct connection with the creator gods. Renaissance painting also gives this small anomaly a spiritual meaning: saints and sacred figures are sometimes represented with six fingers. Six, after all, was considered by Saint Augustine to be a perfect number.

But perhaps the most powerful idea is also the simplest: six fingers meeting at one point. A centre of energy. A gesture reaching outward. A point where the self encounters the other.
